I disliked all the characters. Not very suprising considering...but I can't enjoy a novel where there isn't at least one person to enjoy. Yes, Bronte writes well. Yes, this is a classic. But I was bored. I hated that Nelly was the narrator. I think she drained too much emotion from the story and I was annoyed by her constant meddling and persnickety ways. I can only imagine if it was narrated by Heathcliff. What a better story it would have been! Perhaps he would be unreliable and we wouldn't get a complete picture, but at least it would be more intense and exciting.
