I definitely think the book was too long and could have been edited down. I enjoyed JM, Blay, and Quinn's subplot the most because of the constant action and forward pace that accompanied them. I felt like Phury and Cormia kept having the same scenes over and over again.
Rehvenge was interesting...but I could have waited to read about him until a later book. There was a lot of extra fantasy side-plots stuffed in this book. I can't say that I don't feel a little uneasy that it could all spiral out of control. I suppose anything to keep the series going, right?
Phury and Cormia kind of bored me, but this was probably because there was so much going on around them that it overshadowed their romance. I was surprised by the ending. I thought it was going to turn out more depressing - I don't mind either way though. By the time I finished the book, I realized I enjoyed it more than I had thought.
