The ending made this novel for me! I didn't realize how bleak the novel was until the ending, which only made me appreciate the story telling even more, as it was present the whole time through - just placed in surreptitiously to not overwhelm.
I actually prefer O Pioneers! over My Antonia, mainly because we get narration from more than one character. Alexandra's actions at the end made genuinely reflect on all that I had read. I appreciate a novel that has this ability.
