An eerie, violent book that is done masterfully. Just when you think it is too much, Pollock pulls back and switches topics. After the first part of the book, I wasn't really sure where it was heading. It didn't bother me much, due to the rich characterization happening along the way.
Reading, you may feel pessimistic, that Pollock is showing all the bad and evil in people. That no one can be trusted. That no one has morals. However, life isn't always glamorous, peaceful, and honorable.
