I enjoyed Mellanie the most, I think because her scenes were focused on action rather than dialogue like all the other characters, which I felt at times was tedious. I enjoyed the story, but why was it so long?
This whole story could have been told in the size of one of the two books. I don't know, I think I need some time before beginning on another book from him. I felt so winded by the end.
I was completely surprised by the Starflyer reveal. Although retrospectively it made sense and it wasn't out of thin air, it didn't even cross my mind. A sign of a great storyteller.
Mark's involvement in the story was far less than I had anticipated. I don't think he was integral at all. I wish more was revealed about the Silfen and such...maybe he is saving it for the future? The very end made me think. The real afterlife for everyone or just an anomaly?
