The story ended up more entertaining than I thought it was going to be. The epistolary format detracts from the story. If only this was written into a full length novel! I think it would have done well.
A large improvement from Love and Freindship [sic], which contain a variety of short stories in a similar format. Lady Susan is scheming and manipulative. She doesn't care for her daughter, Frederica, and is only looking to find a man for herself. Her friend, Alicia Johnson, only supports her views, while the rest of the Vernon family views Lady Susan with disgrace.
This novelette isn't up to par with the major novels, but if you like Austen, you won't be disappointed by this short bit.
